Forest Hills Runners in the American Academy of Pediatrics - Medical Student Newsletter

Forest Hills Runners is a dynamic running group with a spectrum of interests and activities. FHR was created with the intent to lift up our community- and that includes everyone: the young, old, fast, slow, and everybody in between. With the understanding of the importance of establishing healthy habits early in life- FHR has taken on a community outreach initiative and partnership with Hyde Square Task Force, a community center for teens in Jamaica Plain. We have running practice with the teenage "Rookie Runners" at Hyde Square Task Force twice every week. We run all around JP and around Jamaica Pond, and in the winter we have indoor track practices at Curtis Hall Community Center. The goals of this program are to promote physical activity among teens, to promote positive self-image, goal-setting, leadership and teamwork, and most importantly to have fun! Our group was highlighted in the American Academy of Pediatrics - Medical Student Newsletter in March 2012. (see the link below)
